A densely branched, upright pyramidal tree when young, the Exclamation!™ London Planetree develops its attractive exfoliating bark when young. Tolerant of the toughest conditions and resistant to disease, the Exclamation!™ London Planetree is a terrific choice for a fast growing street tree. A Chicagoland Grows® introduction.
The Exclamation!™ London Planetree provides great winter interest and is adaptable to many sites. Its only restriction is that it requires full sun exposure. Use in areas where a fast growing, large stature tree is desired, or as a street or park tree.
The Exclamation!™ London Planetree produces less fruit than the species, but birds, pollinators, and small mammals will benefit from the tree as a minor food source and a good source of cover.
The Exclamation!™ London Planetree will require structural pruning every 7-10 years once established. Because it has a strong central leader, there is less concern about codominant stems than with Lindens (Tilia spp.) or Maples (Acer spp.)

No major pests have been observed to damage the Exclamation!™ London Planetree. Cankers may develop and stain the trunk, but this is uncommon.
The Exclamation!™ London Planetree is a hybrid between the American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) and Oriental Sycamore (Platanus orientalis). It has superior resistance to Anthracnose and Frost Cracking compared to the pure American Sycamore. Its exfoliating bark begins with shades of green to tan to brown, which peel away to reveal a cream-white colored bark with age.
The Exclamation!™ London Planetree should be paired with low plantings that don’t distract from the exfoliating bark. Consider using Gro-Lo Sumac to provide a different texture and fall color at the base, or use small stature Hostas or Coralbells if you prefer perennials.
